My cat ran away a month ago. Is there any chance in the world he might still come home?

About a month ago my favorite cat ran away, a big chubby white baby boy that I called C.B. (Cotton Ball). He was about 3 years old. We have another cat about the same age whom C.B. always got along with. About a week before C.B. ran away, my sister brought home a little kitten who basically tortured our older cats by pouncing on them, always wanting to play, and stealing attention away from them. Is it possible that my cat ran away because he was unhappy, or even jealous? I know cats can be happy or sad or angry, but can they feel as deep of an emotion as envy? We spent about a week after he ran away putting up Missing Cat signs, searching the house endless times, searching the woods in the dark and rain, even calling our neighbors to have them be on the look out. C.B. was an indoor cat as are our other two, and he sometimes would dart out of the house when someone was coming or going but we always caught him because he never ran far. Twice he was outside all night but was at the door the next morning, so it doesn't make sense that he hasn't come back yet. We even called our local animal pound to see if they picked up our cat, dead or alive. We're all very sad and I want to know if there is still hope for him to return.

  2. cats are funny people.  and sometimes they decide to choose another home.  just keep your eyes open.  ok

  3. It is possible my Friend he got a new cat and his old one got jealous and left. five years later he came back!!!

    THERE'S HOPE!!!!!    0:o

  4. It's possible that he could still come back, but a month is a long time for a cat to be away.  You may want to post flyers around your neighborhood.  It's possible that someone could have taken him in thinking he was a stray.  I knew someone who would let her cat outside and a neighbor took the cat and wouldn't give it back b/c she didn't agree with people purposely letting their cats outside (it really isn't good to let cats outside, it cuts their expected lifespan in half).  If you post flyers stating that your cat got out accidentally and didn't return maybe someone will give him back if they have him or tip you off if they've seen him around the neighborhood.

  5. I hate to be the one to give you the bad news....but-he's gone.

I used to have outdoor cats. They would be gone no longer than 2 days, max 3, and even then I'd wonder if something ate him, since I lived in an area with Cougars.

So - now, indoor cats only.

It hurts to much to loose them.
