Alright, so my cat went missing yesterday . Some nice people found her today and took her in, she had fallen off something. Her back paw is apparently hurt and my Dad is taking her to the emergency clinic now. She tried to stand up but fell back down . She isn't drinking water, and the accident happened about 2 hours ago . Is she in shock ? Does it sound like she'll have to be euthenized ?

She can move her front paws but she just can't stand. We do not know how she landed, and will be getting a vet opinion soon .

  1. If it's just her paw, she should be fine. You are doing the right thing by getting her to the Vet. She is probably in a bit of shock and a bit of pain, just like we would be if we hurt our foot. With good Vet care she should be good as new.

Sending good kitty karma your way!

    ;)

  2. Please use euthenizem as a last resort!  hopefully she'll be ok. my neighbor cat hurt his paw really bad last winter     he couldnt walk on it either   hes fine now       my prayers are with you and your cat!

  3. Bless you, it's horrible having to wait, she is probably suffering from shock but you will just have to wait till the vet tells you what's wrong with your poor kitty.

My cat fell from a flat 5 floors up and disappeared - he was suffering from shock but recovered in a few weeks.

Hope your cat is not too bad.

  4. I know how hard this can be the worst that could happen is that they will have to remove the legs and give prosthetics or a broken leg if she gets a prosthetic she will walk with a lip but thats it if it is broken they will give her a cast and in a couple of weeks she will be better good luck

  5. You're so sweet to be so concerned about your cat.  But I don't think worrying will do you any good -- after all, worrying doesn't change anything and only makes you dream up all kinds of horrible things.  If your kitty injured only her foot, she'll be fine -- even if she is in shock right now.  Shock is very treatable and so is an injured foot.  I'm sure the vet will check her for any other possible injuries, too, and any treatment decisions will be based on what they find.  The good thing about cats is that their anatomy allows them to survive falls from great heights.  Just hang in there and wait for the vet's findings.  I'm saying a prayer for your kitty.
