My cat stays at my mothers house and when i went to go see her today, her eye looks horrible!!!?

Her eye seems to be staying shut, but when she opens it, you can see like the second layer of the eye, the white part is almost covering her whole eye. You can only see a little part of her eye. My step father says that she will be fine and it needs to heal on her own. She is eating and walking around. She is even purring. I think it looks a lot worse than it actually is. Im extremely tight on money right now. I know i have to bring her to the vet, but i was hoping to get some others opinions. I have a low cost vet that is not open until wed. Will she be fine til then? :(

I'm not sure. It sounds a bit like cataracts, in which a white film overs the lens, making the cat blind, but in cataracts the eye does not swell up.

It could be some sort of infection, in which case waiting may damage her eyesight.

It's a possibility its a noncancerous cyst or cancer, but a cyst that size usually take some time to grow. How long did you leave her at your parents?

But if she seems happy, then you can probably wait just until Wed. If she suddenly begins showing signs of pain, bring her to a vet asap.

You can try and put contact solution in your cats eye. This will give her some relief.  But I would still recommend getting her into see your vet ASAP

If she is keeping her eye shut suggest to me she is in pain and it is quite serious.  The second layer covering her eye sounds very much like this is a eye ulceration.  It is important she see a vet because if this is left untreated she could lose the eye. If it was just a cataract her eye would be open.   Think of her eye first and the cost second you only get one set of eyes. Good luck
