Thank you. My cat is neutered, so I don't know what the problem is. My dog had an accident with diarrhea about a week ago, I don't know why it would take my cat so long to try to cover it up my dogs scent. It was cleaned thoroughly.

  1. Has he been checked for a urinary tract infection? This is a common cause of "thinking-outside-the-box" activity. Males are especially prone to it.

  2. Maybe the best thing to do is to put his box right there where he decided to release his bladder. Is he neutered?

Neutered males don't usually spray their territory. That should be JOB #1 if it isn't already a done deal.

Also, check out the site below to take care of your problem and end the smells.

  3. Buy some Simple Solution and clean the urine.  Cats will pee where they smell urine.

My cat peed in the bathtub once to let me know she had a urinary tract infection.

If the box is clean, that would be my guess.

Or, it could be that he is angry about something.

  4. Try using an enzymatic cleaner like Nature's Miracle to remove the urine smell (keeps her from returning to the area). Has he been to the vet? There are many medical reasons that could cause innapropriate peeing activity and they can be life threatening. Otherwise, any new house members? Or any neightborhood cats/dogs/etc that might be hanging around and stressing him out? The carpet may be offgassing something thats making him sick, irritable or otherwise making him inclined to "mark" it.
