My cat eats like a horse but she doesn't gain weight. You can feel every one of her bones and she is about 5 years old. Is she sick?

  1. I have had many cats that ate like horses and did't gain an ounce. I knew my cats weren't sick either. It sounds like it's just her nature to be slim and sleek. If you are really concerned about this, get her checked out some day.

  2. I'm no expert, but if you are concerned it would be better to take her to the vet.

  3. If she is eating a lot like you say and is really skinny, then she probable has worms. You might want to take her to the vet and have her checked.

  4. i have 8 outdoor cats and feed them all at the same time and 3 of them are always a lot skinnier than the others which are meaty. I think if your cat has always been thin then its just got a fast metabolism .Its probably in good working order. :)

  5. It depends on whether she has lost weight.  One of my kitties only weighs 51/2 pounds but that is normal for her.  She eats two cans of cat food a day and her dry food.  I would call your vet and ask them if her condition is normal for her.

  6. We just had the same problem with our kittens. I know it's gross but you should check their poo. If it seems a little runny, or if there's even blood in it, than it's most likely worms. Take them to the vet and if that's the case they're give you a liquid to give to the cat, and another vile you have to give to them in 3 weeks.

We just did this a couple days ago. And my kittens are already gaining weight.

  7. Start giving her kitten & wet food. If that doesn't fatten her up then she's probably got worms.

  8. If she is not underweight and not losing weight then there is no problem

What do you consider eating like a horse?
