My cats breathing hard?

Last night I came home from work and my cat was panting and I thought he was having a heatstroke because he was breathing hard and not wanting to eat very much or drink any water. So I started feeding him water with a dropper, after I did it a bunch of times I want to bed. When I woke up this morning he was still breathing hard so I was thinking there is something else wrong with him. He is a 10 year old fat cat that like to eat, he hasn't lost any weight seeing as it just started last night but I'm still worried with his breathing.

  1. you need to take him to the vet...this can b a sign of several different things especially with his age..

dont waist anymore time...call a vet and get him seen ASAP..

  2. Anything to do with a cat having trouble breathing should be considered serious and shouls be taken to a vet.  Your cat is 10 years old which means he is a senior cat.

  3. Take the poor animal to the vet. He could be coming down with an awful cold. If your not current on vaccines, it could be distemper. Cats normally don't survive with distemper.

  4. it could also be an upper respiratory infection which will not go away by itself.  your cat has to be seen by a vet for meds.

  5. He should start having a better diet, get him checked out at a vet, try buying organic food, it's suppose to be better for them, and limit what he eats.

  6. Get your cat to vet immediately!!!!

  7. You could ask the vet about a healthy diet plan for him. And maybe take him so they can examine him.
