My cat's is about 9 months old and for the past few days she has been mieowing like crazy! she usually mieows when she's hungry but once she gets her food she's all fine. I know cats tend to mieow but i swear these few days it's non stop. My friends say she may be just bored but i do play with her and she's fine. I feed her play with her make sure her litter box is clean etc, but the past couple of days it seems that just isn't enough? is she in heat? this is the first cat i have owned. She's up to date on her vacinations etc. Could she be in heat?

Please help as i wanna get myself a decent nights sleep .

  1. She could be in heat but don't get her fixed while she's in heat. All the estrogen will be trapped and have to workout over 30 days... then you will want to throw her out.

If she's bleeding she's probably in heat. If not... take her to the vet for an exam.

  2. Good guess for a first time cat owner!  I think you're going to be good one.  Yes, she is almost certainly in heat.  This is usually the only indication that a cat is in heat as they don't spot like dogs do.

Unlike dogs that only go into heat once or twice a year, cats will going into heat repeatedly until they are bred, then they will go back into heat as soon as the kittens are being weaned.  Not only is annoying, but even if your cat is an indoor only cat, it's likey she will get pregnant.  They become very good at escaping when they are in heat, and they invite every male within several miles to come around your house and stink it up with male cat spray (an absolutely gross stench if your'e not already familiar with it)

So, the moral of the story is get her spayed.  As you know, there are way too many unwanted cats in the world, and as you've just learned, you'll have a mess to deal with if you don't spay her.  There are also significant health benefits to spaying.  For example, piometra, an infection of the uterus and common cause of death in female cats, will no longer be a threat.  In addition, certain behavioral problems like improper urination (unspayed females will sometimes spray similar to males) will be reduced.

Good luck with your new cat.  Sounds like your on your way to being a good, responsible owner.

  3. lol i love it when the cats meow, it bugs the h**l out of my brother thou (my cat is fixed it meows when ever it sees me, even when it has food)

  4. If your cat is a Siamese then thats why your cat meows a lot. Siamese cats always want attention and are very talkative. You should spay your cat whether the cat is meowing from being in heat or not. It will reduce all those abused or stay cats. Everybody needs to pinch in!

  5. she might be in heat.. i had a cat that kept meowing for about a week give or take but eventually stopped...

  6. She could be in heat. Get her fixed! She might also be in pain. Take her to the vet either way.
