My cat is 9 years old and has never really drooled before but for some reason she has recently. Last week I was on a road trip and one of my friend's cats were drooling, and I was petting it. Now i'm back and my cats drooling. Could it be a virus? Or is it just that she's old, or a sign of affection, or ??

  1. she is just old

  2. at her age, you may want to take her to the vet and have her teeth checked, she could have a bad tooth that is causing her to drool,

  3. Your cat is old. I have a neighbor that has a cat, he drooles sometimes and he is old. It is ok dont worry

  4. Ive never heard of a virus that makes cats drool, so I think youre pretty safe there.

I have known quite a few cats that drool, the ones I handle that drool seem to do it when they are enjoying themselves, like when they are getting cuddles. Of course, it could defiantely be a scent marking behaviour.

9 years isnt that old for a cat, but you can always check her mouth to see that her teeth are in good condition, I imagine that bad teeth would also help make a cat drool.

  5. She might have a throat ache. Take her to the vet, and the vet will tell you if it's just that she's old, or if it's that she's sickie!

I wish the best for your cat!~

  6. your cat may having teething problems.ie a bad tooth that is rotten or broke or she has gingivitis.

drooling, are signs that your cat is in distress and that something is definitely wrong. Please don't try to find the answer here, as we can only guess. Please take her to your vet or an emergency animal clinic right away. They can diagnose her and provide the treatment that she needs. immediately.

  7. It could be one of her teeth. My cat had the same problem before and he drooled everywhere!

Give her some water, she might just be really thirsty-but I really think it's a tooth problem.

Take her to the vet, and the vet will some how fix it.

  8. your cat is marking you, she probably smelled the other cats saliva, and wanted to make sure everyone knows you're hers
