They would throw up every few days. Apart from brushing their hair, is there anything else I can do? These are long hair cats. My vet gave me some type of gel to feed them, they love it at first but now they run away when i try to feed them the gel.

  1. You can ask a groomer to trim the tummy hairs and then try to keep them trimmed. just let them know you only want a lil off the tummy or they migh do the whole works on the cat, and that is not what you want. After they are trimmed i would try to keep them short in the tummy area. Also... I would try to brush them more often. I remember as a kid... my mom put some butter near the area where the cats eat and they would eat some. Im not to sure how good it is for them but it seemed to work. I would find hair mats in the kitty pan. They seemed to like it too. they jus l**k on it and it coats i would suppose.I would of course watch how much they are taking. once you notice them using the butter...they they should be ok after taking some of it. might take them a while to try out the new product but once they do you might notice fur balls in the kitty pan too!

    Good luck...hope this helps!

  2. clean and brush them more often, also make sure they don't have flees or any thing like that

  3. well first of all you have to let their stomach rest - pls stop feeding them for 24 hours ( at least let them skip two meals)

with a syringe give them like 3ml olive oil ( get some one to help you if your cats are difficult to handle)

    cats looooove this one

if you could also buy them cat grass from pet stores and let them nibble it would help.

or the same as a gel

there is this comb furminator (I am sorry I forgot the name it is someting-minator)  anyways it is the fine metallic one that really takes out a real big amount of the hair and the cats really like it , i use it when I am strocking them .

( after editing : here it is http://www.furminator.com/)

do not think that not feeding them is cruel, it is for their own good.

but if you could tell me how the vomit looks like pls ( color , thick or not.. with food or hair only )

Try Royal Canin Dry food for Hair & Skin .

BTW all of the menioned remedies - I have tried them my self

*** Tip!!! ( to all cats owners)

stop feeding your cats for 24 hours every 10 days ( you may ask your vet about it) this will really give time for the stomach to rest.

    Good luck

  4. ive had that problem with my cat as well and it isn't as easy as it looks , wat i did was i went to my vet and it gave me a spray and u put the spray into its food and it doesn't have taste.

good luck, hope it gets better.

  5. There's the problem - you're BRUSHING the cat.  Long haired cats should be COMBED - not brushed.  Brushes do little to remove the loose dead hairs of the undercoat and can break and pull out the topcoat hairs.  A comb will gently remove the loose undercoat hairs and leave the topcoat hairs intact.  Buy a good quality steel-toothed comb like this - http://grooming.petedge.com/assets/produ...  You can find them at most pet stores (usually in the dog section) for under $10 and it's really all you need.  Not only do they work well at removing the loose hair but if there's any small matts you can easily break them up with the tines of the comb.

Another thing you can do to help your cat should he still l**k off and ingest some hair is to regularly give it hairball remedy (available at most pet stores) or much easier - feed it a food with a built-in hairball remedy.  One of the foods my cats eat is Royal Canin Persian 30 and it's worked incredibly well.

  6. Dang my cat never had a hairball. Probably because of the cat food we give him.

Lol they run away from the Gel.

I give my cat Purina Indoor Formula cat food. It controls his hairball

  7. You can buy cat food that helps with the hairballs. Most cats love butter and that helps or Vaseline, lots of cats like Vaseline.

  8. Yeah brush her more frontward and backwards, but don't brush too long backwards because she may get mad and she lose cat oils that are important in her fur, but its good for a little bit. Also buy hairball formula food and treats.

    That should help ALOT!

  9. Put some of the gel on your finger, then wipe it on the bottom part of your cat's nose (not where it will suffocate them of course!). Your cat will then start l*****g away at it in an effort to clean itself. This is what we do to cats at the clinic I work at. Another method is putting the gel on the top of their paws or opening their mouths (not recommended if you can't handle them properly -could result in bites) and putting the gel on the roof of their mouths.
