She just started today, I noticed she keeps one eye closed and her head twitches. I've checked her ears and I do not think it's ear mites.

What's wrong with my cat?

  1. Take her to the vet.

Having an eye either swollen shut or that she simply can't open sounds bad enough.  That's worth a vet visit, RIGHT AWAY.

If she's also having involuntary muscle spasms, that's even worse.  You need to get the poor girl in right away.  As in, check to see what emergency options you have.  Call your vet RIGHT NOW, tell them what the problem is, and let them tell you what to do.  They will probably tell you to bring her in that very moment.

  2. It could be as simple as a seizure, or as difficult as a stroke. If seizure, she may be epileptic and need medicine. if stroke, she has a blood clot in her brain and needs surgery. either way, she needs a vet.

  3. I would definitely take her to the vet right away.  Are there any children in the house, I'm assuming she's an indoor kitty?   I'm wondering if there are any children in the house who may have hit her in the head.  Let us know what the vet says.

  4. vet. could be a stroke, nervous system disorder.
