I have a female cat, not related to the other kitten in my house, who both have a bend at the tip of their tails. Is this the result of an injury or could it possibly be a hereditary trait? I take good care of my cats and I raised them both since birth and I cannot recall them getting any injuries to their tails. And even if they did. Could their really be that great of a coincidence that they both have it in the same spot. maybe it is a disease that cats can get, or a display of dominance? I don't know.

  1. If your kitty has a broken tail you might notice the following symptoms:

A tail that drags or never held high

    Involuntary dribbling of urine

A dilated, flaccid anal sphincter with or without diarrhea or fecal incontinence

    Incoordination of the rear legs

Pain at the base of the tail

Sometimes cats are born with crooked tails (possibly from factures inside the mother cat) that have already healed and can do just fine that way. If your cats experiences any of the symptoms above, or if you notice that she cannot feel her tail you should take her to the vet, and if it feels broken you should have a vet look at her.

  2. Get rid of your rocking chair.

  3. It could be genetic, its called a kink.  If you just noticed it , it is an injury but if its always been there its a kink.

  4. This is basically guessing -

I had a dog with a broken tail, it was broken when he was being born.  I assume that could happen with cats too.  Feel the tail, if it was broken at some point you should be able to feel the difference.  If they can straighten their tail out completely then it's probably just they way they carry their tails.  I'm not sure if there is kitty peer pressure, but the younger one could do the same thing to mimic the older one.  And if it wasn't broken and can't straighten out then I guess it's just the way they are and I have no idea why.
