my cat has a habit of following me or the wife into the bathroom and meowing like mad! the wife was at the sink and covered her hands in cold water and started wiping the water over the cat, she loved it and started purring like crazy and rubbing herself against any thing she could find like the radiator. is this weird or what! does any1 have an explanation for this behaviour???

  1. Some cats like to drink running water.

It has worked out the bathroom is where the running water is.

Put it in the bath and turn on the cold water just enough to dribble on the bottom of the bath.

  2. typical sign of a cat which needs attention ooer

  3. I have 2 cats and both of them love being in the bathroom. One of the loves the sink and to drink the running water or sleep in the sink when it's not being used. The other likes to sleep in the tub or if you're in the shower he sits on the ledge in btw the 2 curtains. Cats are just funny little animals and enjoy things that you and I find routine and non-important or get enjoyment from things we think are odd.

  4. that is too cute, my cat does the same, he just wants to be with you.

  5. Your cat is just affectionate. She just wants attention and loves being around the both of you. Good job, you guys were good to her, and she's trying to repay you with gratitude! That's what a good owner is.

  6. my cat always has to go in the bathroom when someones in there....we'll usually turn the tap on a little bit for water to drop out, and she'll either drink it or bat at it! i think she just wants to spend some quality time with ya! :)

  7. Our cat is fascinated by the sound of pee hitting the toilet bowl. She follows my wife into the bathroom and tries to curl up in her shorts while she goes about her business.  She wraps herself around my legs when I'm in my element.

  8. Strange - you are looking for a reason for something your cat does,

It's a cat - they're raison d'etre is to make us poor humans puzzle over them!

I bet if you try that again in a couple of weeks she will have changed her mind and will take your hands off at the wrists!!

  9. My cat does this too.  He wants us to turn on the water, so he can play in it.  He tries to pull the water away from the drain, and then lets it pour over his head while he licks it off the sink.  He meows until you turn the water on for him.

  10. Lol my cats do that, its normal for them, it just shows they love you and they want attention.

Make sure you give them it! lol

  11. no the cat wants a bit more attention my comes in the bathroom and does the same thing. Cats dont like being confined and maybe thats why he was meowing, but dont let him in the bathroom or he'll start drinkin from the taps like my cat does ! I have to lock him out now

  12. My question to you would be how did this particular habit form in the first place? Cats are creatures of habit, but only if they get something out of it. So if you want your cat to stop showing up in the bathroom, stop putting cold water on its' fur. The cat loves the water (God knows why) so if you want to discourage this behavior change your habits too.

and think about putting fresh cold water in its' dish on a daily basis. He/she might just want more refreshment.

  13. I had a friend who said they had to LOCK the bathroom door because the cat would come in and JUMP INTO THE TUB WITH YOU if you were taking a bath.  it found a hole that it could get into the bathroom and would come into the bathroom that way... they said they had to block the hole too.

Another friend said she lived on a boat and her siamese cats would jump in and catch fish..

My male cat comes into the bathroom and sits on the counter while I am putting on makeup and talks to me... or sometimes he paws toward the window ... so I know he wants out.

so unusual yes... but not impossible

    >^..^<

  14. My cat Jemima used to do this and I couldn't understand why until one day she jumped on the sink and began drinking the water from the tap.  After that I knew that when she meowed at the bathroom door  or on the kitchen sink she wanted a drink of fresh water, not the stuff in her bowl.   This behaviour can also be a sign of insecurity with the cat if you close the door and shut her out - you know how curios cats are, they want to see what you are doing!

  15. Actually, it is a fallacy that cats hate water; what they hate is having water in their ears.  There are several breeds of cats that enjoy water, and even swimming.  So long as she doesn't get bizarre in her water amusements, to the point of it's being hazardous, there's no reason to worry about it at all.

This is not, by any means, the weirdest thing cats have been known to do!
