Basically i bought an X-reg peugeot 206 lx second hand a year ago, and everytime i start my car up the cd player acts as if it has just been installed, it never remembers any setting i have set, such as radio stations and even what to start on. I previously though it was due to the cd player i had, however i have recently put a new cd player in and it still has same problem....im not really a car guy so i dont know any technical stuff. please help

  1. Usually in vehicles, there are 3 things to get power to your head unit. 1.Your main 12V power, usually red on a headunit. 2. A 12V Constant thats usually yellow ( this could be hooked up to the power wire to get a fast job done, and 3 is your ground wire, black.  Your yellow needs to find its proper home, the installer could not seem to find it and placed it at a location to get the job done, so he slacked a bit.  Regardless, get a wiring diagram of your vehicle, remove your head unit, and inspect what I am talking about.  All you have to do is remove your yellow wire and find a constant 12V power supply, usually this is the ignition. (should be one from your old factory unit).  Hope this helps!

  2. Your yellow memory wire needs to have constant 12 volts to it at all times. The red wire needs to only have 12 volts when the key is on.

  3. There should be a wire that provides a constant 12 volt power source to the cd player, so that it can maintain these settings. If that is connected properly, the wire may be either burnt out or disconnected elsewhere. I don't know the exact specifics of your car, but it is possible that there is a fuse somewhere just for this wire that has blown, as well.
