My ceiling fan is extremely dusty/dirty and it is about 10 feet up in the air. How do I clean it?

I don't have a ladder and don't want to buy one just for cleaning the ceiling fan.

The fan is gross though. If I stand on the coffee table I can *just* about reach the fan with the tips of my fingers.

I am 6'6" which is why I can almost reach it when perched on coffee table.

Any ideas?

  1. They actually make things for this specific reason and they are so much cheaper than a ladder. Go to Wal-Mart and look for a a duster with an "extendable" handle. They actually have ones that bend so you don't have to stand at any wierd angle. You just reach up and swipe it across the blades and around the fixture, too. Get one that either has the disposable clip in pads or one that the dust is attracted to kinda like a magnet. I say the most you would have to spend is around $10. They work wonders!!!! Here check them out....

  2. Use a ladder

  3. put a kitchen chair on top of kitchen table and use a bucket of warm soapy water  and clean good work for noticing

  4. go to your local building supply store or a store that sell ceiling fan products . that sells brushes for cleaning ceiling fans. and purchase a brush and maybe a extention pole for it ( so you can stand down on the floor SAFETLY insread of the coffee table )
