Question:

My cell phone contract ended?

My contract with Cingular Wireless(AT&T) ended about 5 months ago. I am on a month to month.

I was wondering if I needed a new phone, do I have to sign a CONTRACT EXTENSION or do I sign a NEW CONTRACT?

Why is it that contract extensions don't offer good deals on phones like new contracts? I don't think this is fair.

I am trying to keep my number and if I cancel and then sign a new contract, I think I would get a new number.

  1. PAy full price or get a phone off e bay if you want to avoid signing a new contract.

  2. You don't necessarily have to do a new contract or contract extension to get a new phone...

You can just outright purchase a new phone - and keep everything the way it is (same month to month - same #) HOWEVER, the price of the phone will be very costly.. That's a decision you'll have to make..

As far as the prices being higher if you don't sign a new 2 yr, it sucks, but they do it to make $$$...

If you sign a new contract, you will NOT get a new number... You can keep the same.. Even if you decide to go to another carrier other than AT&T, you can still PORT your number over to a new company and it won't change..

So you do have a few options ;-) Good luck to you!

  3. New phone,New contract, unless you just outright buy the phone. Then you don`t have to sign a new contract. No problem keeping same number. When you get your new phone you just have to activate it.
