Of course it waits until the hottest day-week of the year. It's a 2 yr old compressor, but tonight the air coming out of my vents was warm and my thermostat shot up to 80.

Is it coolant or freon or something? Approximate cost to fix.

I'm in SW Ohio.

  1. Sounds like it may be out of freon.  We had ours charged for about 150

bucks.  I also had this problem in my car and it was because of no freon.

  2. It could be several things. It could be low on refrigerant. It might just be a dirty filter that is constricting the air flow and not letting it circulate through the system properly. Check the filter first because that is about $1.49 to replace. Good luck and I hope this helps.

  3. first look out side and see if maybe some varment or kid has knocked a hole in your duct work while your at it check to see if your fins on your unit are all clogged up with debree if that is not the case im sorry i cant help you differant state differant money

  4. Every a/c problem is not refrigerant related. It could be something simple and only cost 50$ or less.Trekin the trick is to do some detective work yourself and eliminate possible problems. You might surprise yourself and it may not cost you a dime.

First make sure it's not froze up by turning your cool off and running your blower all by itself for 1 hour.If when you turn the cool back on,it starts to cool,it was froze up.Good luck.
