  1. The outside unit must be running in order for you system to cool.

It could be that the breaker has tripped but there usually is a cause that needs to be corrected for that also.

Have a tech come out to diagnose.

The call could be anywhere from $60 to $100.00 for the diagnosis and possibly correcting the problem if it's simple.

  2. Check the breaker to your outside condenser unit.

  3. our unit was blowing warm air and was running constantly a few weeks back. it had froze up inside the unit (iced) and the water that comes out the tube had froze, so it all backed up into the unit. We removed the ice, and the repair man said that we were a gallon low on freon(?) which cost $150 , i think. after that it has worked fine.

  4. I am just coming off a problem very similar to yours.  My air unit was blowing hot air but the heater and everything else worked just fine.

When the A/C Repair company came out they found that my inside coil was leaking and the outside air condenser was old, leaking, and needed to be replaced.

Needless to say it was a lot of work and VERY expensive.  I think the total job cost the home warranty company almost 6 thousand dollars to fix.  They replaced the entire outside air condenser and replaced my entire inside furnace (I think they called it the complete air handler system). I only had to come out of my for a crane that was needed to remove the old unit off the roof of my condo and lift the new one up there.  My total out of pocket was $417...the rest was passed on to the warranty company.

Hopefully yours will be a simple fix and not a $6K dollar one.

    Good luck to you...

  5. The reason your heat works fine is because you have supplemental heat. Your refrigeration system that is supposed to supply the heat is not working. That's why your cooling system is not working also. The cost is dependent on why the cooling is not working. Call for help from your local heating/cooling contractor.

  6. It probably needs freon. Only a reputable technician can do it. Cost depends on who does it. Just call around. I'd start with that first before I bought a new compressor or new unit.
