My central vac works upstairs, but not down...Any idea why??

  1. If you have one unit only and it is located upstairs.I don't think that you are getting proper heat transfer.A frosted or froze coil maybe.Check that by running your blower by itself and turn your cool off for 30 minutes.Then run it as normal.If it was froze it'll start cooling then because the ice will have melted.It could also be caused if a 12 inch duct came off that feeds the air to the downstairs but less likely.Although I have seen it before.There are other reasons though ,that is just a couple of possibilities.Good luck.


  2. Since all the outlets are piped to the same line I would think it's just blocked.

    Try using a seperate vacuum to clean out the debris.

    Could be a wiring problem if its just not turning on the vac when you plug the hose in.

  3. the pipe may be blocked or if the outlets not working it could be the wiring - call a small vacuum store business and they'll come out and do a service call.  We have a store and my husband does service calls on his way home at night
