My chances of becoming a Police Officer?

Hello, really want to become a police officer, I live in Dallas, Texas area or DFW, my real question is I am 26 now and in 2003 I had a little hot rod car, long story short I thought I could out run a patrol officer (stupid) no drugs, or other crimes involved just a stupid kid with a fast car, the court charged me with a class B Misdameanor for Fleeing Police and thanks to my attorney I basically got a slap on the wrist $600 fine and 24hrs comm service , 9 months probation.

Since then I decided I needed to make good of my life I enrolled in a community college and joined the national guard Ive been in the National guard 2 years but due to financial burden, I was only able to get 24 credits for school, I am at a turning point it's been 5 years since the court order, and Texas police cert, requires that all class B violations must have been 10 years prior to application, my plan is to Go active Army for 4 years and better my chances by the time im 30 overall what are my chances? Thank

If you serve in the Military Police, it will look good on your resume.

Since you were only charged with a misdameanor and you've made good on your life since, my advice is to talk to a lawyer and get your record expunged.

MADCAPPER's idea is an excellent one.  If this is not possible, however, it would be good for you to enlist in the military, if that is your decision, and re-apply upon your discharge.  This will show the DPD administration that you have definitely turned your life around.  Everyone makes mistakes, especially when we're young.  I'm sure they will understand.  Good luck!

I think your chances are good. I worked with a guy who at age 19 got a charge of resisting arrest then at 26 he became a cop.

You have worked hard to keep out of trouble and have served your country with honor. You have learned from one mistake made and that will go a long way.
