Question:

My chances of conceiving twins?

My mother's aunts are twins, and my husband's aunt has twin sons. Does this heighten my chances of conceiving twins? Also, do women pregnant with twins experience pregnancy symptoms quicker than women with singletons?

  1. Hi there! Yes it certainly heightens your chance of having twins! If not your first pregnancy then probably your second or third. I am a mother of 6 so far and pregnant with my second set of twins. Its crazy because the only twins in their bloodline is from my husbands side. His great-great-grandfather was a twin. So it definetly heightens your chance being so recent in bloodline.

It depends on the woman but with my pregnancies I actually didnt experience the symptoms until I was 4 months along. Whereas with my single-child pregnancies, I was between 2 and 3 months. BUT my daughter just had her first set of twins and she was experiencing symptoms at only 3 weeks!

So like I said, it certainly depends on the women. Good luck and hope this helped!

  2. It might increase your chances, yes, but sometimes twins are carried genetically, and sometimes they just happen. It really would depend more on whether or not they RUN in your family, instead of having just popped up once.

As far as pregnancy symptoms, they don't necessarily show up quicker, but often are amplified because of the higher level of hormones.

  3. well my uncle had twins also his mum carried twins but there has been no sign of twins since in the family so u never can tell  i should imagine u would feel pregnant quicker with twins but i knew in the first wk i was pregnant sometimes u can just tell wen i was pregnant wiv my son though i didnt no til i kept feeling sick
