  1. What year and what engine size? 3.1 liters are known for intake gaskets leaking, this could cause all of the above that you mentioned. Upper intake plenium can also cause this, the egr tube can melt due to extreme heat causing pitting the you end up with coolant and engine oil mixing then the engine can hydo-lock. You need to try to pull the codes then go from there, or have it pressureized for possible coolant leak.

  2. My son has a 1995 Camaro.  He was having a lot of the warning lights in the dashboard come on.  He kept telling me that he needed a new wiring harness.  WRONG!  I did some troubleshooting and finally pinned down the problem.  There is a ground stud on the passenger side fender well under the hood.  It looked OK initially, but a closer look revealed rust and corrosion.  I cleaned up all of the wire terminations landed there and presto!...everything was fine after that.  The computer controls all of the circuits going through it by grounding each circuit when it needs to be activated.  That's why it's so important to make sure that the grounds are in good shape.

Check engine light---Most often when a check engine light illuminates, it is emissions related.  Have the DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) read to find out where to start looking for the problem.  I don't know why a really hot day would cause a no-start.  If your oil pressure seems to be really low, you could try using a thicker viscosity oil.

  3. k***s you need to go to autozone and rent the ecm tester unit and get the codes right away! your problem sounds like your vapor locking in the fuel system. it could be as simple as replacing the gas cap. seriously all newer cars with fuel injection require the system to be correct and vapor to be controlled. if the heat is causing air pockets (vapor lock) it will act just as you described. chevy is notorious for bad electric fuel pumps in the tank as well so if it seems to crank a long time even when cold out before starting this is an indication of this part failing.
