I went onto the "where's my refund" and it says that I have a check for $300 being mailed to me, however the calculator and my tax guy says I'm supposed to have $600 coming. Why is it different?

  1. it's possible you owe the state money such as child support, social services fees etc.  they shoudl mail you a letter and explain it all

  2. " made 31k last year, one child, filed head of household, 1 exemption. Her father and I live together, he claimed her, so I wouldn't get the $300 for her. The calculator said $600 based on my tax return. I don't owe any money for child support, student loans, etc.... so I'm not sure why it would be only $300."

Exactly how did you file HOH if you LIVED with your husband.  That is only a valid combination if he's a NON-RESIDENT ALIEN.  (And it's very difficult for an NRA to claim a dependent!)

  3. Because you're single w/no kids.

  4. theyre cheap

  5. Taxes?  Im not really sure, try asking your employer?

  6. You used the IRS calculator?

    http://www.irs.gov/app/espc/

  7. the IRS said 300 its 300

  8. why are you complaining? i'm an astronaut and i get paid zip.

  9. You need to look at line 57 of your tax return, then add line 52.  If this amount is under $300, then you did something wrong on the calculator, and your tax guy does not understand how the rebate works.

If line 57 plus line 52 is under $300, then you get $300 rebate.

If line 57 plus line 52 is over $600, then you get the full $600 rebate.

If line 57 plus line 52 is between $300 and $600, then you will get that amount: for example if line 57 is $455 and line 52 is zero, then your rebate will be for $455.

  10. I just read online this morning that some people's checks are not the full amount because they were not paid for their childrens' $300.00 but that it should follow soon. I don't know if this is your case, but if you have a child, it's possible that that may be the reason. Hope this helps!

  11. ask uncle sam

  12. They take income taxes out.

  13. I'm not sure...I only got $300 too, but my calculator said $600..so maybe it's not accurate?! It sucks, but I look at is as, "Hey, it's better then nothing!"

  14. We'd have to know more about your circumstances to be able to help. For instance, are you married or single? How much did you make last year? Even then you still need to speak to an authority on the subject.

  15. check if you have a reliable tax guy, check your math, and if none of that works, become a huge pain in the *** to the local goverment.

  16. You need to call them asap.

  17. ur calculator loves u and wants u to be rich
