  1. whenever your hen is acting ill, you need to act fast.  Chickens will hide an illness for as long as possible to avoid being a target to other chickens.  By the time you notice her acting ill...she's really ill.

Is she a layer, or not?  if she is, has she laid any eggs recently?  As the other poster suggested, she may be egg bound and this can be deadly.

Is she pooping?  Is it normal or runny?  Is she eating/drinking?  Try to give her some goodies...mine love hard boiled egg yolks, grapes, leafy greens (cut up small).  Offer her some nice fresh water.

After you've tried to get her to eat/drink...now get a nice large box, put a heating pad on the bottom, cover with an old towel.  then cover that up with whatever bedding she uses.  Put her inside and make sure it in inside the house, in a quiet room.  Cover the box with a big towel.  When birds are ill, they need to be kept warm, quiet and preferable low light to keep them calm and reserve their energy.  This will help her to pass a difficult egg (the heat is VERY important for egg bound hens).

This may take 24 hours, you need to keep check on her every hour during the day and offer her food/water each time.

After you have her resting comfortably...try to find a vet that will take a look at her.

Following these steps has helped me many times for many different problems with my hens.

    Good luck

  2. I would call a vet that sees wildlife in your area. Sounds like she is sick maybe she is going to lay eggs? make sure she is not eggbound. Is she eating, drinking?
