  1. Chickens will usually start to lay eggs at 5-6 months, some closer to 6 months . Feeding them a diet of layers pellets from 12-15 weeks onwards will possibly help them start and I find my chickens lay more eggs on them then any other food. If you want a lovely large rich yolk I'd recommend mixing it with 1/3 mixed corn. Plus any other scraps including small bits of meat (ham fat they go mad for) will produce a nice egg. Mine usually get everything the dog doesn't eat :-)

  2. Just wait it can take up to 26 weeks

  3. Some breeds lay later than others and are you feeding them laying pellets as well as good feed and oyster shell and grit this all helps for production and quality as well.

  4. 6 months is more normal, and chickens are also less likely to lay in winter. Depending on which side of theworld you're on you may need to wait for some longer days.

  5. Only early developers lay that soon. Regular developing chickens take at least 6 months, maybe more depending on the breed, to begin laying. They also need tons of calcium. To make sure they have enough, feed the layer crumble and oyster shell. Light could also be another issue. Most need 14 hours of daylight to be able to lay, so if they can't get out of the coop that long, it slows egg production.
