My chihuahua has green p**p?

I am a little confused as to why my (almost) 9 month old Chihuahua has green p**p. He has not eaten anything different/green colored, and No he doesn't like grass. He is acting perfectly fine. He is his happy bouncy little self. He is still eating just like before and drinking well. I am just not sure what could have done this.

Can anyone help?

Oh and yes I have called the Vet and he says that I shouldn't worry about anything until Star (my dog) is acting weird.

  1. there isnt anytihng wrong with your dog. my frends dog pooped yellow p**p with red in the middle... its just a dogs body of letting out bacteria. nothing to be concerned about. change his dog food and see if it helps.

  2. It is normal for a dog to have different colored p**p. It is usually something to do with what ever they have eaten. Green is not a bad color is is a sign of vitamins in his system. It is nothing to worry about. dogs systems are alot like ours.

  3. Did he eat a green crayon. All dogs love grass by the way.

If the dog begins to act sick then take him to your vet as soon as possible.

  4. Has he been eating Fruit Loops or something with food dye in it?  That's what causes green p**p in humans--when my kids were little and I was still changing diapers, we actually called the green stuff Fruit Loop p**p.

  5. well ur vet sounds like an idiot but for me I wouldn't worry about it sounds to me it's normal

  6. Your dog and I have something in common.

  7. If it's not VERY green, it should be fine. If it's just a puppy, they might pass green p**p if they suffered a shock before. Like a loud sound that scared them or something.

  8. probably its what he is eating. try feeding him something else to see the difference.

  9. how much do you watch your dog?

a know a little dog that had green p**p because he used to eat grass, lots of grass!

  10. What are you feeding him?

Back in the day, we once fed our dogs "Gravy Train". All the dogs pooped in green until the bag ran out. We didn't buy that c**p again. Once they were back on their regular food, their p**p went back to brown.

Is the poo normal in size and consistency? Or is it runny or have mucus in it? If it's normal other than color, I probably wouldn't worry to bad. If it's different than normal in other ways, I'd probably head to the vet for a check up including a check of his stool sample.

  11. There is nothing wrong with your dog. He probably ate some grass when you weren't looking.

  12. Your dog is still a puppy. And, like babies, they are still developing. So, it's probably just a matter of your dog's digestive system maturing. Take your vets advice and monitor you dog. If he starts acting different, then take him in to be checked. But, most likely, this will pass (literally).

  13. I think he's probably fine. What you can do though is take in a p**p sample ot the local vet and the can do a "fecal" float which checks for intestinal parasites and such. It will be about $20, but you don't need an apt or to get an exam. It's worth the freedom of worry.

Take the sample in within 24 hrs, the sooner your get it to taking it in (basically the fresher) the better. If your get it and have ot wait, put it in a ziploc or some sealed bag and pit in the fridge.

  14. Well if the vet said he would be fine just make sure that he dont start acting weird then he will be fine! Sometimes dogs have weird colored p**p! :]
