  1. I have not known a 4 year old that will sit for long periods of time or not be a little restless. I think it is a problem with the Teacher wanting him to sit still. Also little boys tend to be more physical and need to move around more. Just make sure he is getting plenty of sleep, outdoor play at home, and eating well and drinking plenty of water. Also don't let them fool you into thinking he has some disorder like ADHD. They are quick to judge and try to label our kids these days. He sounds like a normal 4 year old. They expect out little ones to grow up so quickly. Also our Teachers need to be taking more Child Development courses and they would see that these behaviors are completely normal and don't need to be medicated.

  2. maybe he is smarter than the class he is in,try letting him vist a older class. maybe he has an attention problem, have him see a doctor to b checked.

  3. You say that it is the teacher has noticed this and do not mention that it is a problem at home so it is unlikely to be food additives causing problems.

Most four year olds are really active. Unfortunately this is not wanted in schools and so they train them out of it as soon as possible. Teachers don't have time to cope with those children who have enough initiative and self confidence to 'go their own way'. Be thankful that you have a child who looks likely to be a leader rather than a follower but keep an eye on him to make sure he does not lose that self-confidence you have worked so hard to gain.

My son is now 14 and excells academically but at 4 years old he had to read books whilst laying on the floor kicking his feet or do maths by running around the table in between answering questions! He was happy so we were happy too!

If the teachers are really struggling they may suggest drugging him with Ritelin. Just look up the side effects on the internet before you agree to anything!

Best of luck with fighting the system!

  4. He maybe very bored,  And little boys are always restless they want to go outside and play. My brother was like that in school, and now he owns his company and doing very well.

  5. sorry ,but i think it the teachers problem ,what is the teacher there for

when there is a child that is restless or unhappy i make an appointment with the parent to talk about the childs needs to build up his restless points .

you can also speak to the owner ,and always be very nice to his teacher so the teacher can look after you child with lots of care.

  6. there's no other best way than to bring him to his pediatrician.  it's better to be sure... and to remove your worries too...take care

  7. pay attention to what you are feeding him , and make sure he is getting enough sleep.

  8. Every child is so different, some are restless by nature.  My 8 year old daughter is that way, just can't sit still.  She happens to also be very bright and is in all the gifted classes, so it doesn't show a lack of ability, just a personal trait.

One thing you can look at is his diet.  Many children don't respond well to refined foods and artificial colors and flavors.  Try for a week to go without artificial colors and flavorings and foods with nitrates (lunch meats, etc.).  See if his attentiveness at school doesn't improve.  If that works and you want more results, you can also remove white flour and refined sugar from his diet, but I know for a child that's really hard to do.

Just try it and see if it helps... if not, then look at other solutions, but this is something easy with immediate results.

    Good luck!

  9. Maybe it's not your child it's the teacher. Are any of the other children in the class doing the same thing? Anytime you get a bunch of 4 year olds in a classroom all day they are probably going to be a little restless. Maybe the teacher is just not making it interesting enough for your child.

  10. That is not unusual for his age. He may not be mature enough for the subject matter.

  11. if he doesn't eat breakfast than that Can be a big part of your problem because it doesn't give him the energy he needs to be able to think as soon as he gets up in the morning. You should also try to go to bed earlier and when he gets up in the morning do a fun with him it get his day stated and relaxed and it will help him not be so tired.

  12. He is a four year old boy, that is the biggest reason. He might need more stimulation then the school is offering him. I have 3 boys, the youngest is almost 4 and boys just like to be on the go.

  13. The reason is because he is four.

That is kind of a no brainer to me.

  14. Being 4 and restless is not a problem. Perhaps he is not ready for school. He is young for school . He may be academically ready, but not socially. In school, there are times they do need to be able to sit still. you may want to think about retaining him another year so he is a little more mature.
