Question:

My child is home schooled and I want her back in public school what do i do??

Ok my 16 year daughter is enrolled in Penn Foster Home Education...She has been for almost a year, she would still be considered a freshman....

I want to REenroll her in public school but she

missed fcat...Will they try to retain her and if not

what are the procedures I have to go through so

she can get back into school, Im willing to do pretty

much anything....

PLEASE HELP

  1. I&#039;m in Florida as well. Did she submit ANY evaluation for the year (besides FCAT,we get four other choices). If so, a passing score on that should be enough. If not, the school will most likely put her on academic probation for a grading period and if her grades are poor they&#039;ll put her back a year. That&#039;s what they did for HSers I know in Lee and Colier county at least.


  2. She would need to finish her PF courses to be considered for credit; past that, it&#039;s up to the individual high schools.  Two school districts, right next to each other, could have completely different policies on this.

    I&#039;d call and speak with a guidance counselor at the school, just be up front and find out what their policy is.

  3. If you are in Orange county, she may have to start back in 9th grade, I understand they have some strange rules.  

    Ask your local homeschool support group for info about enrolling in public school so that you understand the law.  

    They should accept her as a transfer student with her Penn Foster transcript.  Find out what the school says, and with your knowledge of the law, you can make sure it all works out ok.
