Question:

My child just got "GBS" or strep type b. She is 5 weeks old. How serious is it?

I know that strep type b happens in newborns but i cant find info on late term strep type b. Any advice?

  1. It can be dangerous as in how sick it makes them if it's left untreated. so see a doctor asap if u haven't already. also visit a chemist to get a product u can use to clean sheets etc.

Yes, Strep b is very dangerous in infants if it goes untreated.  I assume that you have already taken her to the doctor and they sent you home on antibiotics.  Personally I would think if it was a serious infection they would have already admitted her into the hospital to get antibiotics by IV. Just watch her closely.  Never doubt yourself if she starts to spike any type of fever or become lethargic get to the ER.
