My child just turned four and will not stop running water. He will stare at it. When I come to turn it off he will get upset and go to the kitchen sink, pull up his stool and do the same thing. What's the fascination?

  1. add...........sorry you asked

  2. Could be anything- the sound of it, just watching it run.. Could also be knowing you don't like it. lol.

  3. My son love the water.  His first swim was when he turned 1yr and he loved it.  I think that it's programed in their brains when they hear or see water.  When I give my child a bath in the tub, he will try to swim in their.  I think that all children love the water when they are that young because it reminds them of when they use to be in your stomach.

  4. he's totally fixated on it and thinks it's new and interesting. Try speaking with him in a normal tone and explain why it's not good for the environment to waste water, but when he wants to take a bath, he can watch the water running

  5. Man kids are weird.  Tell him that if he want's to watch the water run, he has to do it in the bathtub with the drain plug in because you can't waste water. Does he watch spongebob? Tell him something silly like if he lets it run, spongebob will dry out and go away cuz there won't be any water left for him to live in.  Take the stool and put it where he can't reach it when he is not around.

  6. go to a toy shop and get him a rain shaker.

they make the same noise, but are full of tiny plastic beads.

maybe he's just curious as to where the water comes from and goes to.
