  1. Add more tomato sauce and no more spices.  Serve with bread or crackers will help too.

  2. Peel a potato, and add it to the chili while it is still simmering.  Let it simmer for at least 1/2 hr.  The potato will soak up the heat.  If you want to be able to fish out the potato later - put it in whole, or only cut it in half.

  3. put lemon in it...limon

  4. How much is TOOO spicy?  If you have to mellow out a whole pot then you may need a *much* larger pot to reduce the over all hotness by adding more of your basic ingredients (tomatoes, meat, etc).  You could serve a good dolop of sourcream or yogurt in each bowl to soothe the newbie taste buds.  Actually, sour cream is great w/chilli no matter how it is spiced.

Yummy!  Making me want a good bowl of veggie chilli ! ! !

    Thanks!

  5. I think if you add a potato it will absorb some of the spice. If it's too tangy, sugar will cut the acidity. Hope this helps. Otherwise, yes, add more tomato

  6. to mellow the whole pot of chili out, you'd actually have to add more tomato stuff (whatever you added to begin with) and more meat.

if you want to just mellow out one bowl of it, try adding a teaspoon of sour cream right in the middle.  don't mix it in, just get a little taste of the sour cream on your spoon with each bite of chili.  sounds weird but it doesnt taste milky/creamy or anything.  it just takes the heat off.

  7. Barring adding more unseasoned ingredients, chili is tasty with rice mixed in.  Cheese added works in a similar way to sour cream or yogurt, dairy cuts the heat.

  8. Actually, you can grate CARROTS and put it in!  It will act as a thickener, and will naturally SWEETEN the chili (and no one will know they're in there)... and it's healthy too!
