My chinese zodiac sign is confusing me...

I'm really confused about my chinese zodiac sign.

I was born January 28, 1996--So, it must mean I'm the rat, right?

I thought I was the rat but when my friend sent me this site where it tells everything about your birthday, it said I was the pig.

So I checked a Chinese astrology site and it said I was the pig.

Though, I was born in 1996 so doesn't that mean I'm the rat?

Or is because I was born in January?

This may be a dumb question, but I just wanna know.

It doesn't matter which sign as long as you do this for entertainment.I am a leo in european charts and match the profile for that sign. But if I read the one for cancer, I also fit. So I wouldn't put too much credence in the meanings.

It's because you were born before the Chinese new year in 1996. The Chinese calender is lunar, and its new year starts on a different day each year, usually between february and april on the western calender.
