My church friend has a good job in which she deals with state authorities on matters for her company. She looks out for her company in compliance with the state. She had a meeting with the 3 state officials and she alone on behalf of the company. That is the confidence the boss had in her. But she is confused with her this comment.

During the meeting, the state officials were impressed with her and told her I would want you to come work for me. The state official's boss nodded too indicating yes. She replied thank you thats a compliment.

She told her boss and her boss replied that is funny. What does that mean? She didnot like it or is it really funny and she did not get it.

What do you think of the state officials comment and why the boss would comment that way. What does it mean?

  1. Sounds to me like the boss was being sarcastic, like he didn't really believe her when she told him what the state official said. He thought she was making a joke.

  2. Sounds like her boss meant "odd" which sometimes can mean the same as "funny".  The officials were impressed with her.

  3. In America,  we often use inappropriate wording without realizing it. How come instead of why; my first convenience, not first opportunity and need for something we actually want. Rather than saying it was funny, odd or even unexpected would have been better. Even though it wasn't a formal meeting  with minutes or a stenographer, he was probably surprised at the blatant proselytizing during a routine continuity discussion.

It's not the same as an "Okie" going to a family reunion to get a date, but it's close.

  4. it either means he's threatened by the fact they want to hire her, or that she's pretty hot and no $hit they want to hire her.....
