Okay so close friend has to complete 100 hours of community service to finish. She, like me, is pregnant and has been going down the site she was assigned to to get her hours done. The lady in charge at that site has told her every night this week that she thinks its degrading to put a woman to work, especially someone who is pregnant. The other day the lady asked her how she would feel about making a donation to the park in liue of her hours. Basically my friend would donate money and the lady would inform the state that she had completed her hours. She said that she has done this before with other people. It's a non profit baseball park so I guess they could use the money.

My friend has been down there and the lady has said that she really doesnt have anything for her to do there that won't jeapordize the baby and her health and any other place will not work with the hours she can do it b/c she works.

I guess I am wondering for her if this is okay to do? Will she get in trouble

  1. No, it's not okay, it's illegal. This woman is probably pocketing the money and your friend should report her.

  2. This sounds really suspicious. If the lady who ran the park really felt a pregnant women is at risk and should not be working or completing community service hours she would offer to falsify documents for free or offer to talk to your friends probation officer. But, she wants payment. So, who gains here, she does. I find it hard to believe that any payment would go to the park.

Your friend should tell her probation officer about this and ask to complete her hours elsewhere or what other options are available to her.

P.S  she may give your friend a document to say she has completed her hours but in the end this lady will get caught all past and present people who were suppose to do community service at her park will be investigated. Time sheet records will show that the community service was not completed. Your friend may end up having charges laid against her. Its just not worth it. This lady says there is nothing for your friend to do at the park then so be it. Your friend should attend, complete her hours and do just that, nothing.Take a book.

  3. your friend could get in a lot of trouble if she does this.

your friend needs to let someone from the court know what this lady was saying.

if it is true that there are no tasks for her that wouldn't hurt the baby, the court will re-assign the community service.

but i think the woman just wants the money.  and the court needs to know that.

  4. no its illeagel

get an easy job for her to do like washing animals at the pet shelter

or reading to little kids at schools

  5. It sounds illegal to me, that is not what the judge sentenced her. I would ask my probation officer if I could possibly get another assignment to complete, maybe one more fitting for a pregnant woman.

  6. I don't know. But I'm proud of you, keep up the good work =]

  7. This is a bribe.  what if your friend gets caught?

your friend should see if she could get moved to another community service location, maybe one where she can sit down?  Or work with children?

  8. I think that this is a great idea to do. But yes, she probably can get into a ton of trouble if the state finds out that she's donating money instead of doing her community work. Maybe ur friend should talk to someone in the next placement level than the lady she's with.
