‘My clubbing days are over’ says New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz – NFL News
New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz on Wednesday said that his clubbing days were over after the shooting incident at a local club where he went with his friends to celebrate his birthday party.
A man was killed and two others were injured as an unidentified gunman opened fire in the club on Tuesday.
After his safe escape, he recalled the memories of the incident and said that his priority was to get out of that place along with his friends in one piece.
His teammates Hakeem Nicks, Aaron Ross, Antrel Rolle and Chris Canty were reportedly present in the club with him when the incident took place, but a few of them have denied their presence. As per the reports, some NBA athletes
were also clubbing on the day. Thankfully, no one was harmed.
Cruz was really disappointed to have his birthday party ended in an unwanted way.
“It's tough," Cruz said. "You want to go out, and you want to have fun, and you want to have friends come out and do things for your birthday, but you never want it to be this way.”
He understands his position as a Giants’ representative and said that he had nothing do with the incident.
“Obviously the stereotype is going to be there: the Giants' guy at a club, gun shots go off," Cruz said. "I understood all of that. But I know I did nothing wrong, I knew I was there, completely innocent, trying to have a good
time with some friends. That was it. I knew I wasn't doing anything negative.”
Cruz joined New York Giants in the year 2010. This season, he has played all the nine games for this franchise recording four touchdowns and receiving 40 passes. His team in currently at the top of the National Football league
East division and will take on Philadelphia Eagles this weekend.
The wide receiver has maintained that his performance is not going to be affected by the incident and that he is completely focusing on the week 11 match.
Giants’ coach Tom Coughlin also spoke about the incident on Wednesday briefing the players about the incident and said that he had also talked to Cruz and advised him like a parent would do.
