My cockatiel, Eddy, love to chew on paper and magazines and...well anything if he is in the mood. Also, he is very weird as if some piece of paper is underneath a chair, a dresser, a desk, he immediately goes under, starts chewing on it, and if you come near him, he runs out and hisses and spreads his wings and pecks at you. I was wondering if this happens with other cockatiels? Is it a male thing? Maybe he wants to guard something? If anyone knows specifics it would be appreciated

  1. Mine does that when she is playing in the closet and is generally having lots of fun doing her own thing.  She wants to be in my face most of the day...  But when she is ready for her alone time for exploring and playing - She doesn't want me next to her (although she doesn't want me out of sight either).
