  1. birds can be very protective at times! ive had birds in my house since i was 3 and i still have them! maybe bacause uve him in a new cage and he doesnt feel comfortable so thats why whenever someone passes he kind of attacks because hes scared to be taken somewhere if u get wat i mean.

    gd luck with ur bird!

    hope i helped!

  2. Keep them a part.

  3. I'm thinking that this may relate to your new nest box--from the way you word the question I'm guessing you do, too? He may feel that he needs to defend his cage even more now that he has a "desireable estate"; even if you had a nest box before, this one may just strike his fancy in a way the last didn't.

Does he bite the female every time she's near him or only when you happen to be standing near the cage? Parrots will often bite their mate (or even their owner) if another person approaches, because they're expecting a confrontation; they're basically urging their mate to get to safety, but in an aggressive way. Giving a bird a nesting place often makes it more hormonal; this could easily have amped up the "protective husband/father" behavior.
