Question:

My cockatiel keeps hissing and trying to bite me for almost a month so far? Why is he doing this?

He also sticks his head in the air when no ones near him and when he sleeps.

  1. what we did with ours when he was doing that was we got a pair of gloves and whenever he tried to bite us we picked him up and held him on his back for a little while because they really dont like that and it shows them that you are the boss and not them.  or you can get a spray bottle that has a squirt and a mist function and spray him with taht when he hisses at you.


  2. Never use gloves to handle the bird they scare them more. Always take the bird out of its cage to tame him down. In the cage the bird will be territorial and will hiss to warn you to stay out. Have its wings clipped so it does not fly into  the walls or windows. Outside the cage is the best place to interact with them.  That is like neutral territory for the bird. You might still receive a few bites but the bird will eventually learn it is pleasant to be out of the cage with you. Just be patient.
