I bought a cockatiel in may. It stayed by me for a while, but LOVES my parents. When I'm home alone, she won't leave my shoulder. But when my parents are home, she stays by them and doesn't want anything to do with me. She won't stay by me. My mom doesn't even like her as much as I do. Why won't she stay by me? Am I doing something wrong?

  1. Are your parents taller than you?  Most birds like to perch on high trees.  They feel safer that way, it's their instinct.  My son always worries that his lovebird would like me more.  I tell him it's okay for your bird to like many different people, a well socialized bird is a happy bird.

  2. somtimes teils will bond to the ppl that care for them, who gives him food and water?  check out http://www.parrotcentral.net/cockatiels....

  3. perhaps she has bonded to your parents?
