  1. vet

  2. I would take him to the Vet for an evaluation.  Sometimes coughing in an elderly dog can be a sign of Cardio or Congestive Heart Failure.

  3. clivenichols1956, I like the personality of a cocker spaniel. They are so sweet.

  4. I suggest that you take him to the vet as soon as possible.

My 12 year had similar symptoms which I ignored for too long.

The day he died was the same day he was diagnosed with the tumour.

    Good luck!

  5. he's old and probably needs his teeth cleaned.  you can do it yourself if he won't bite you.  tooth disease can cause heart problems by spreading the germs thru the bloodstream so do him a favor and figure out how to use a child's toothbrush (soft) to brush his doggie teeth.  As for the coughing and gagging, who knows?  He may have something lodged in his throat or some kind of growth.  Again, he's old and any number of health problems can arise.

  6. Take him to the vet.

  7. He definitely should go to a vet for an exam/possibly xrays. Coughing is a first sign of heart/lung/chest problems. It could be something he did to his trachea, or even kennel cough, but you definitely dont want to let this go and it ends up being cancer which has spread to the lungs. Time for a vet!
