  1. Make sure you find the source of bleeding and put flour on it to stop bleeding. make sure he does not inhale it. Where is he bleeding from? Wing, toe, nares? If it is from the beak mouth or nares or head and not a feather or nail I would call vet and take. Better safe than sorry.

  2. depending on were it is bleeding it may or may not be serious but just to be sure go to the vet.

  3. Watch your bird VERY carefully for the next few hours.  He may just be stunned or he could have serious head trauma or other injuries.

    Look for:

    Continued bleeding or any blood in his nares, mouth or in his droppings;

    Any swelling around the eyes, or one eye that does not open;

    Any unusual movements of the head or body such as circling in one direction with the body, or looking up to the sky constantly with the head;

    Either wing drooping further than the other or both wings are drooping and he can't bring them to a normal position;

    Any favoring of a leg;

    Any gasping, open mouthed breathing that does not subside with an hour's rest.

    If you see any of the above in the next hour or so, your bird needs help immediately.  If not, leave him quiet for another hour or so and check him again.  If all is normal then he's probably okay.

    I hope all is well with your little guy.

  4.   He's not bleeding any more right?  You're fine. You can use flour also.  If he breaks a flight feather and it is bleeding you will have to pull the feather out to stop the bleeding.   Stabilize the wing and yank it.  Its life threatening and he can bleed to death if this happens.  Don't worry though  I have owned cockatiels for 30 years though and never had to do this.   Keep the bird calm for the next 24 hours so the bleeding doesn't start again.
