I do not feel that my advisor from my first school offered good advisement. I did have some classes that I did not pass but I am really working toward my degree. I can write an appeal but am not sure how to word it.

  1. Just be straightforward.  You need to include exactly how many credits you need to graduate and how many terms you need to finish.  If you explain how you got where you are, and what you plan to do to finish, you should be fine.

  2. Blaming an advisor certainly won't get an appeal awarded. You have a couple of options.

    1. If you are at a community college, you can transfer to a 4 year and the amount of attempted hours is more, again allowing you to get fin aid.. however, depending on how many hours you do have, you could be in the same situation the closer you get to your graduation date.  Just be sure you don't drop anything, don't take classes you ARE SURE will count to your degree and for goodness sake don't switch majors.

    2. write a well thought out appeal letter explaining  your career and academic goals in detail and include your plan and anticipated graduation date.  It helps if you point out if your degree program had extra pre requisite classes like getting into nursing or radiology or something similar.  Always spell check and make sure you use correct grammar and punctuation.  Turn in anything that isn't college level and it will get thrown in the trash faster than you can say "Satisfactory Academic Progress".

    Good Luck, Hope it helps.
