Ive been working at a company in Abu Dhabi last February and I would like to resign this august. They said that I should pay every single dirhams that they spent for my residence visa. They said that it will be more or less 5000 dhs. Isn't this price too much? Do I really have to pay this? Do I have to pay this much? Please advice. thank you.

  1. Holy s*****k - you getting Plucked and something else that rhymes

Did you sign a contract stating you would have to pay some penalty if you didn't work a certain length of time?

Get a lawyer - find out - good luck finding it on Yahoo Answers - too serious a question for this forum

  2. The company spent a great deal of time and money to get you that visa.  Read your contract.  It is a standard contract clause to require you to work a specific period of time, and your failure to complete your contract obligates you to refund all of the money expended on your behalf.  You are lucky if they do not require an additional sum to cover all of their expenses for advertising, interviewing and hiring another person to replace you.

You are being very unfair and yes, you have to pay.  You will also be barred from getting another employment visa because you failed to fulfill your obligations.
