My computer does not detect my camcorder, why is this?

If it is a miniDV tape based camcorder and you are using USB to transfer the video, that's not gonna happen. You need to use the firewire400 (IEEE1304a, i.Link - all the same thing) port on your computer with a firewire cable connected to the DV port of the camcorder - USB won't work.

If it is a hard drive or flash memory camcorder, you need to get current drivers.

If it is a DVD camcorder, don't use the camcorder for transfer - put the miniDVD in the DVD port in your compiter and rip the video with Handbrake
