Question:

My computer doesn't recognize any discs in the disc drive?

Whenever I put a disc into the disc drive on my computer it doesn't recognize it! I've tried practically every disc I own, and none of them work. When I put in the sims CD it says "please insert the sims 2 disc and click OK to retry", but the disc is already inserted. When I put a music CD in and open itunes, it doesn't recognize that I've inserted one and doesn't ask to upload it like it always does.

I recently deleted a lot of programs off of my computer and did a disc defragment because my computer was getting really slow, but I'm PRETTY sure I didn't delete anything as vitally important as this! Any ideas what's wrong and how I can fix it? Thanks!

  1. Sorry this is not an answer but it is so weird that I tried the same thing on my computer 2 days ago (with Sims 2) how ironic and my computer does the same thing. To the person who said reload the drivers... how do you do that? I want dsl too but my drive needs to recognize the disk att&t will give me to load into my computer. My computer is 3 years old. I wonder if we should just get new disk drives put in. If we do, does anyone know how much that would cost? Sorry I wasn't any help on answers... just more questions.

  2. Did you try cleaning up the optical drive? Maybe it's simply at the end of the line...

  3. Disk manifac.?

    try downloading the drivers again!
