Your computer sound driver might not be present,

open volume control from control panel and see whether you can work with it by increasing the full control.

If you can increase, that means you do not have an inbuilt speaker,

what you have to do is, get a head phone, plug it in and listen to sound.

Use google to search and download sound driver  incase you don;t know the site to your machine brand
