My computer dosen't see my Sony(R) Handycam TRV280 so I can upload to my PC?

This camera was given to me but I didn't get the software that comes with it. I have the USB cable that I need. I have checked the Sony site but they no longer have info on this model. If you know of anything that might help....Please help!

The Sony DCR-TRV280 is a digital8 camcorder with a DV port. You will use a Firewire (IEEE1394a, i.Link) cable connected to the DV port of the camera to the firewire port of your computer. Install one if you don't have one. USB will not work.

I have the same handycam and I upload video via USB. What you need is the driver. The one I use is actually for a TRV250, but it works just fine. Get it from here:

Just install the driver then import the video using your favorite video editing software, such as Windows Movie Maker.
