I don't know what happened. All of a sudden, my computer goes in to standby after about a minute. I go to get a drink and come back and the screen is off. I have tried to reset the length of time in the control panel and it doesn't work. Please help. thanks.

  1. You need to change the POWER management settings instead of screen saver. Right click on the desk top and choose properties, "personalize in Vista". Then choose screen saver, power settings. Set this to what makes you happy.

  2. Check your settings again by going to Control Panel, Display, Screen Saver tab and check the Power options. There are various tabs that you will need to check under Power Schemes, Advanced and Hibernate. If you make any changes, you need to reboot to ensure that the new settings take effect.

  3. Go to control panel, click on power options, select turn off moniter:Never form the list on the main screen
