  1. Have you defragmented your computer? Probly some of the important files aren't in tip top condition since your drive install.

  2. One hard drive I had quit on me when it was going slow. Is your hard drive new, as in, never been used before? If not, maybe it's (hopefully not) going bad.

  3. No, it is not! Why don't you email me what you know of this harddrive installation, and we'll figure it out.

  4. May or may not be normal. If its an SATA drive it sounds like whoever installed it may have not put the SATA drivers in. An SATA drive will run configured as IDE in the bios but will run very slow. Go into bios and see if the drive is configured as "AHCI" or "enhanced"(terminology depends on the board) If its configured as IDE change it. If it reboots and reboots with the new configuration then the SATA drivers weren't installed. If thats the case take it back and have him/her do it right.

If its just booting slow and running ok after it boots then it wouldn't be that. When you first install an OS and the automatic updates is on the computer is constantly downloading and installing updates and, sometimes it will finish the update upon startup which would make it boot slower. That usually is resolved after all the updates get up to snuff. I'm in the business and always put the latest drivers and updates in but most techs don't. Could also have more progs starting up than you had before. Try going into "msconfig" "startup" and unchecking the boxes for the progs you dont need starting up and running all the time. Less apps you have the faster it will boot and run after it boots.

I know you're in "desktops" but if it is actually a laptop you could have had a 7200rpm hard drive and the tech replaced it with a 5400rpm hard drive which would definately give you a performance hit.

  5. No.  there isnt much we can do to help you.  your question is very vauge, and we dont know what kind of hard drive you have, and we dont know the one you had.

who knows, you probably got a slower drive installed...
