My computer had nearly 2600 threats and viruses shut down everything and now I'm on my new computer, and the old one still has slight problems but the virus is gone. and I don't have any Anti-spyware or Firewalls or anything. How did this happen?

  1. Thats not really a question, but your anti-virus or anti-spyware could have automatically removed them. I really wouldn't be worried about that though I mean they are gone be thankful

  2. You should have antivirus and firewall in place to secure your pc. AVG 8 free +  Zonealarm free is a good combination.

  3. a man with money to burn, you using virtual machines??

  4. The so called "2600" viruses could have been detected by a low-end Antivirus/AntiSpyware.

Usually they add "tracking cookies" and "cookies" to the virus list.

Cookies are obtained by visiting sites, they contain data which the site can use later if you go back onto it.

  5. Well unless you believe that an angel came & touched your computer, I'd say whatever was on that computer is still there. It might have been that you were getting pop ups , which would have come from spyware/malware.. now you might not be going online, so it seems ok..

I'd say get a GOOD Av, update it, scan system, Get a good Anti spyware soln update it, scan system. It might have been that some hoax program listed your cookies or M3U (history) files as viruses..

But it never hurts to double check..

Also make sure that you have all the windows updates...
