My computer has a virus and I don't know how to get rid of it?

I have downloaded a reliable antivirus but it won't even let me open it. I've tried using adaware and every time I try to open it it directs me to another site that's unrelated. If I get anywhere, it goes into system shutdown. Please help!! I'm afraid to pay for any downloads, not knowing if they're trustyworthy or not. I did that with cyberdefender and dont' know if that was the start of my problem. And what about Limewire? I've taken it off my control panels yet it won't leave my toolbar and the popups keep showing up.

  1. it's not a virus

    It's basically a malware/adware/spyware problem

just download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

    and scan you system

    After scanning,remove the problems found

  2. first of all: i recommend THESE security software

    1. kaspersky internet security

    2. bit defender

    3. eset nod32

    4. avast

i'm a KIS user. it slows ur pc down but it really protects it.

first of all: limewire needs to be UNINSTALLED. open it on programs or uninstall it via the uninstall exe that comes with it.

if it still shows up, chances are that you've been infected with adware since it consistenly shows u to another site and the limewire logo keeps appearing.

my optimal advice to u is install one of the softwares i recommended, update them, then perform a full scan.

    this will also help:

start up->run->msconfig->start up tab->disable/uncheck unwanted programs.

if u have programs in msconfig like "brgtyelk.dll" or something running, YOU HAVE A TROJAN. is scanning didn't help, u can always do system restore

to use system restore: search for a program system restore. then click one date that was all okay before all these chaos happened to you (i.e. before everything went kaboom) and it should be fixed. it won't delete your personal files. it will just delete programs that have been installed or updated before that date. which will also erase ANY viruses or malwares.

if that doesn't work...manual reformatting is the last option

back up ALL the files you want to save->restart-> keep pressing F10 (or F11, i forgot which one does the system recovery button on start) then use system recovery. it will RESTORE YOUR SYSTEM TO FACTORY SETTINGS. meaning EVERYTHING WILL BE RESET TO THE DAY YOU BOUGHT IT.

  3. Well, you have to do many things.

One: When your computer starts-up, press F5 after the splash screen. That should open Windows XP in safe mode.

Two: Try to open your anti-virus. (If you can open it, scan the h**l out of your computer) (oh, don't forget to disconnect the ethernet cable from computer, so you don't get anymore viruses.)

    Hope that helps.

    Good Luck.

  4. It appears that you have gotten your computer into a nasty fix.

The virus (or spyware, trojan, rootkit or any malware for that matter) has disallowed conventional anti-malware programs to run on your computer. Please do not click on any of the links on the website that you were redirected to, much less pay for the downloads advertised there.

Limewire is but a P2P program. That is not your infection, but is likely your infection source. Thousands of people get infected everyday because of malicious content being spread through P2P networks. I suggest you remove it entirely.

To help your situation and restore your computer back to a clean state, I HIGHLY suggest you use ParasiteDB Disinfection Service:

    http://parasitedb.com/removal.html

They are good, cheap and reliable, and will give you a full refund if you do not get your problems solved.

Let me know how it goes!

  5. I totally agree with Rishab V... Malware Bytes is a very good antivirus but you should keep only one AntiVirus in your PC. Because they will fight with each other. Believe me dude, it's like having two wives in the same house :D
